The short answer
If you already have a working Anki routine or a trusted shared deck, keep it. If writing cards eats your study time, SyncStudy generates decks from your lectures and adds lessons, quizzes and exam practice around them.
Anki is a free, open-source spaced repetition app for Windows, macOS and Linux, with a free Android app (AnkiDroid) and a paid iOS app (AnkiMobile). It uses SM-2 by default and offers the optional FSRS scheduler. It has a large library of shared decks and add-ons, but no built-in AI card generation. In 2026 its creator began handing day-to-day stewardship to the AnkiHub team.
